Crystal Chandelier

Written on New Year’s Day, 1st January 1984, whilst coming down from an LSD trip watching the snow falling outside the window of a friend’s flat. Demoed for One Million Fuzztone Guitars at the time but never rehearsed, played live or recorded.

“Nicely done, breezy pop anthem to the Easy Life, big deception, and with bats in the belfry and chickens in the yard…I was reading about Kevin Rowland today. This song suddenly also reminded me of him.” AQ

“Great Scot! It’s good. I particularly like the words. This song is held forth by it’s narrative. A happy Nick Cave tune perhaps with a twist….. Good Rob, Good. I don’t know much – but I know when something musically is good to my ears and mind………” AR

Standing On A Planet (with you)

A brand new track for a brand new year. 2022 starts here! Written on and old GDR acoustic salvaged from the shore of Lake Coniston, it just leaped off the fretboard and into the World.
“Groovy, lovely interplay of guitars and a bright ditty for sunny days. Brilliant!” AQ “
Awesome catchiness. Love the Guitar sound. Only Ones meet Lou on Bridlesmith Gate. Love it.” AR
“That instrumental section has a great sound, good and full of potential. Time to do an off-beat ballad in that style, then…” AG

Rock Section (Séance Version)

The Legend of Rock Section (Séance Version), originally entitled ‘Send Me A Letter’, with the original lyrics from the Jim Morrison séance, which started off with him saying he was murdered by the music industry (the song Target) then asked for me to send this to a friend of his in the US called Big Jake, of course this came back “return to sender” as Big Jake was a character John Wayne played, it then took on a life of it’s own “a gigantic hoax” which culminated in us meeting Cliff Richards at the crossroads one morning, this is the original lyrics version from the letter that was only opened after the Dayglo Maradona version came out. Every time I approach it, it becomes something else.

New Track, ‘Vicious Mothers’ by One Million Fuzztone Guitars & Skin Patrol pre-release!

A never recorded before OMFTG/SP track about dancing on the top of tall buildings, cover photo the only one surviving post event, the camera falling to its doom in the streets below (it didn’t ‘fly like a bird!’).

“It’s only beginning to seep in now. It has a certain early-80s nostalgic Dexy’s/Stranglers feel to it, with some nice horns (aren’t some female background vocals gagging to manifest themselves right here???)”.

“Catchy, warm and lovely. That familiar RC voice at the helm. I love it!”

“We dream to love triumphant”? Right On! AQ

Rock Section Remastered.

Remastered for that extra bit of thump and grit, the Fuzztones/Skin Patrol classic of Julian Cope’s 131 fame, later remixed as Dayglo Maradona by Andrew Weatherall: https://depositosonoro.com/2020/09/10/julian-cope-de-the-teardrop-explodes-el-enlazador-de-mundos/

Strangely enough coinciding with the release of the remastered Rock Section from 1980 comes the re-release of the very guitar I’m playing on the track and pictured in the above photo, the Watkins Rapier 33, at last a new version as the original looked great but was very flawed. Available now on pre-release! New track – This Song

Legendary Fuzztones Electro Funk/Glam Rock classic finally gets a release, pondering the question “is a song responsible for the crimes of it’s creator?” This Song obviously thought not and ran away to find fame and fortune whilst it’s writer sank headlong into lawlessness and notoriety. Big Jake

“Wow, here’s another great track following the Litter / Electric Prunes tradition, with repetitive lines and a *****ng excellent psychedelic fuzz riff just after it starts!” RM
